Antwerp has a solid national and international reputation as a creative fashion city. The well-known Fashion Academy and the amazing Fashion Museum as well as the inspiring shopping streets and the various fashionable events organised in the city all contribute to this. The new Antwerp Fashion Weekend event only helps confirm why so many visitors from neighbouring cities and further afield think of Antwerp as the shopping capital of Belgium.
Antwerp’s latest architectural jewel is the Port House. This funky and innovative building, with roots in the past, is the new headquarters of the Antwerp Port Authority that accommodates over 500 employees. You can also plan a guided tour of the building and enjoy the panoramic view over the port and the city.
The fully renovated Museum Plantin-Moretus will reopen on 30 September 2016. In addition to a new-build with a reading room and a depot, you can also explore the new permanent museum exhibit. Visit this UNESCO World Heritage site and enjoy an improved visitor experience and even more atmosphere. More than ever, you will be able to experience the amazing story of the visionary publisher Christopher Plantin and his in-law, the Moretus family.

The tour onboard the rib boat lasts 2.5 hours, with all you can eat ribs (or a fish dish or a salad, if you do not feel like meat). As you sail through Antwerp’s port, you can enjoy some unique views of the port activities.
Rural life sometimes seems very far away when you are roaming around Antwerp, but it is actually closer than you think. You can get a taste of life on the farm at the petting farms on the outskirts of the city. If you want to feed pigs, cuddle rabbits or play among the kid goats, then this is the place for you.
The Eilandje, a special Antwerp district on the hinge between the city and the port, has just added a new iconic building to its list. The impressive Port House is a monumental design by the famous Zaha Hadid Architects. It puts the port of Antwerp on the world map from an architectural point of view, if nothing else.
