Of old, pilgrims stopped in Antwerp to regain their strength as this is where they could find overnight accommodation at the Sint-Julianus [Saint Julian’s] inn.
True to time-honoured tradition, pilgrims will, as of March 2012, once again be able to rest their weary bodies at the Sint-Julianus inn. The inn will happily accommodate 4 pilgrims… on the understanding that they can present credentials of course (credential of an accredited Compostela brotherhood which shows that the pilgrim is on a journey to Santiago de Compostela or another place of pilgrimage). Pilgrims may only spend one night here.
The key to the inn can be collected from the reception desk of Visit Antwerpen (Grote Markt 13 - 2000 Antwerp).

On Monday 8 June 2015, at the MAS, the interactive art initiative 'The Antwerp Whisperer' was unveiled: a monumental combination of 5 larger than life sculptures that are mounted on the roof and against the facade of a renovated warehouse at Godefriduskaai and Willemdok next to the MAS. The Whisperer - the sculpture erected on the roof of the warehouse - whispers personal and general messages that are received by the sculpture positioned near the dock. The sculptures are the brainchildren of Belgian Campine artist Daisy Boman, who is well-known in the art world thanks to her universal Bo-men. This unique, interactive project connects the business community, technology and cultural world, and contributes to the local and international character of the “Eilandje” and Antwerp city in general.
"The beautifully renovated Shopping Stadsfeestzaal on the Meir is presently a shopping centre housing over fifty shops. "
The Antwerp ZOO is one of the oldest and best-known zoos in Europe. It will take you and your parents at least half a day to see and do it all! The penguins live in Vriesland with their own arctic enclosure, elephants and giraffes are as tall as the Egyptian temple they stay in and hippopotamuses goof around in a pink villa. 950 different species and 5000 animals live at the zoo, that’s more than all the sweets you’ll ever eat all in one place!
Shorter days and longer nights… Yes, autumn is here. But don’t worry, because in Antwerp we always make sure that every day and every night is simply unforgettable, with fun parties in unexpected places, concerts in palaces and exhibitions and culinary highlights in the city centre. And just when you think you’ve seen it all, we have another surprise up our sleeve for you. Book the Discover Antwerp package, spend the night in Antwerp and make the most of your stay with the Antwerp City Card that is included.
