Rubens Market

On 15 August, the historic centre of Antwerp will be transformed into the Rubens Market, as it is every year. Stalls and stall-holders alike will be decked out in 17th century garb. Come to the Grote Markt and enjoy the authentic atmosphere.

Stray back to the age of the baroque master Peter Paul Rubens at the Rubens Market, with vendors dressed in seventeenth-century costume. The Rubens Market takes place on 15 August every year and runs from 8 am to 11 pm.

Fly back in time and get a taste (literally and figuratively) of life several centuries ago. The Rubens Market is held in the Grote Markt, Suikerrui, Ernest Van Dijckkaai, Handschoenmarkt, Lijnwaadmarkt and Kaasrui. There’s no shortage of stalls: you’ll find more than 200.

Public transport

Public transport

Antwerp is a pocket-sized city. Many of the attractions are within walking or biking distance of each other. Another way of getting around the city is on the trams and buses of De Lijn. Tip: buy your tram or bus ticket in a point of pre-sale (newsagent’s, supermarket, the vending machines at the various stops or in the visitor centres of Visit Antwerp), where tickets are cheaper.
