From 2017, the Tour of Flanders will be starting in Antwerp, and this for a period of at least five years. The starting shot for this truly traditional cycling classic will be fired at Het Steen on Sunday 2 April.
Antwerp under the spell of the race for a whole weekend
The festivities actually kick off on Saturday, 1 April - no April fool - because on that day, more than 7,000 cyclists will be put through their paces on the same track as the pros. On Sunday, 2 April, the party will not end when the cyclists are off. All day long, you will be able to visit the official Tour of Flanders fan village on Groenplaats, where plenty of activities and entertainment are laid on and where you will be able to follow the race from start to finish on a big screen. The weekend of 1 April, Antwerp will be completely under the spell of the race. Bring family and friends to Antwerp and don’t miss the event!
Don't forget to look up if you happen to be in Antwerp. Especially for the Tour, the boerentoren has been covered with a cloth measuring almost 40 metres. A beautiful eye-catcher, even from the air.
