After all, there's always something to experience in the city. The brochure gives unique tips and useful information so that you don't have to miss anything during your stay in Antwerp.
This summer edition of ‘Things to Do’ covers events from April through September. A summary per month and a handy key make it extra easy to plan your visit in Antwerp. We spotlight a top event from each of the six categories:
The completely renovated Museum Plantin-Moretus will reopen on 29 September 2016. Allow yourself to be transported into the special story of the visionary publisher Christoffel Plantin and his in-laws, the Moretus family. Cinematic interventions, books that you can page through and a space where you can try the craft: the house will come alive more than in the past.
Every first Sunday of the month is a Shopping Sunday in Antwerp. Most shops in the historic city centre are open on those Sundays. You can shop to your heart's content on the Meir - the main shopping street in Antwerp. On Sunday, July 3 the summer sales will commence in Antwerp's shopping streets.
The 'cathedrals of the sea' will once again moor in the city centre near the cathedral of Antwerp from July 7 - 10. This is the sixth time that the prestigious Tall Ships Races will stop in Antwerp. Admire and visit the most beautiful sailing vessels in the world. Be sure not to miss this unique spectacle.
The historic city centre of Antwerp will be transformed into the Rubens market on August 15. Immerse yourself in the authentic atmosphere of the 17th century. Stallholders dressed in traditional clothing sell a wide range of goods.
Sfinx Mixed festival is a free music festival from July 28 - 31. World music, delicious food and beverages, and wonderful tents await you. Sfinx is the most sustainable music festival in Flanders. Thanks to an extensive and diverse programme, everyone will feel at home: from families with children to the most adventurous music lovers.
The UCI Trials World Cup will take place in the historic centre of Antwerp on September 24 and 25. Bike trial is an atypical cycling discipline in which cyclists have to get over obstacles without setting a foot on the ground. For the seventh year in a row the Grote Markt will be transformed into a spectacular trial bike route. This is the perfect opportunity to experience something a little different during your visit to Antwerp.
