Experience Traps

The Middelheim Museum is inviting international contemporary artists to get involved with typical Baroque elements such as the grotto, fountain and trompe-l’oeil.

The grotto, the maze, the living tableau, the folly, the fountain, the trompe-l’oeil, … these are all style elements from the Baroque which play around with the tension between nature and artifice. At the request of the Middelheim Museum international contemporary artists are experimenting with this legacy. The new works, sculptures and installations will be given a place in the museum and in public places in the city.
