Het Geluk

Het Geluk is a family-friendly bar where mothers with pushchairs are just as welcome as fathers with toddlers on pushbikes, grandparents with their grandchildren or teens with or without their girl- or boyfriend.

There are always newspapers and books on hand and they serve healthy sandwiches, home-made soup, and the one of the best hot chocolates in town. Pop in on Saturday during the exotic market or on Sunday when the traditional “Vogeltjesmarkt” market is in the square.

Antwerp ZOO

The Antwerp ZOO is one of the oldest and best-known zoos in Europe. It will take you and your parents at least half a day to see and do it all! The penguins live in Vriesland with their own arctic enclosure, elephants and giraffes are as tall as the Egyptian temple they stay in and hippopotamuses goof around in a pink villa. 950 different species and 5000 animals live at the zoo, that’s more than all the sweets you’ll ever eat all in one place!

Antwerp's central park

It is not only the buildings that have survived the test of time in Antwerp, the triangular Stadspark is all that remains of Fort Herentals, one of the forts that guarded the city in the 16th century. Not far from the city centre and the hustle and bustle of the shopping streets the park borders onto the Jewish neighbourhood.
