Stories about Antwerp’s local grocery stores from 1950 to the present.
A colourful series of portraits.
The MAS asked photographer Sanne De Wilde to find out more about the people who ran corner shops in the city, in the past and present. The outcome is a colourful and diverse series of portraits, giving a human face to the corner shop in the city, since the 1950s. These portraits will be presented on the large light box walls of the Boulevard.
Sanne De Wilde has also made a selection of historic photos, which are exhibited in the display cases along the escalators. They offer an overview of how corner shops have changed and how they were represented since the early twentieth century. Where possible, she has combined these images with her own work.
